Most people think of nature parks as eco-systems uninhabited by humans--spaces reserved for wildlife, fossils, and plants. “Inhabited” shows us that people live there too. Through an in-depth exploration of all ten of Canada’s UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites, a filmmaking family introduces us to the people who call these places home and asks: what do the inhabitants want the rest of us to know? Intimate portraits reveal ancestries, communities, families, and spiritual ties between people and places. At times ignored and forgotten, at times marginalized and even pushed away, and at other times deeply embedded in the land, for better or for worse, the people of these parks have made natural heritage their cultural heritage and the natural landscape their social environment. Their ways of life remind us that nature and culture, and that environment and society are entangled and inseparable.
